In 2016 ESA decided to collaborate with a few of the very best fashion schools around Europe. The students were tasked to come up with some outfits specifically designed for space travel or to live in space. We followed their design process from sketches and prototyping to the final catwalk at the Science Museum. Throughout design and production, the students would show their progress to the European Space Agency and they even received some words of encouragement from British Astronaut Tim Peake, sent from the International Space Station.
With filming taking place over the course of two months we captured every part of the process, and not only helped people understand the brief that was given but also get people engaged when thinking about joining Ravensbourne’s Fashion courses. We did this by providing the video on digital displays in the Uni during open days. The video was also shown on the official website for the project as well as at The Degree Show. We focused on a stylish look in order to really emulate the space theme of the project.
